WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that in the beginning the Triune God (One God who reveals Himself in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) created mankind good and in the image of God.  Mankind had an unbroken relationship with God.  Shortly after, man chose to rebel against God.  This rebellion has marked all mankind as guilty of wrong.  This act broke man’s relationship with God.  As a result, mankind has fallen short of God’s perfect standard and is deserving of eternal separation from God.  Man is therefore left in a desperate situation. But God in His kindness and compassion made a way to justify the guilty through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, God the Son, on the cross.  When Jesus died, He paid the penalty for sin.  When He rose from the grave three days later, He defeated the curse of eternal death. This substitutionary payment for the man’s sin is a gracious gift of God and is a display of His great generosity. This grace is a gift that can’t be bought or earned but is received through faith in God as both our Savior and our Lord.  It is by God’s grace, received through faith, that man can be seen as no longer guilty and receive an eternal inheritance.  It is only through God’s grace that man’s relationship with God can be restored.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

In short we believe that God’s provision of salvation is by…
Grace Alone,
Through Faith Alone,
Found in Christ Alone.
Therefore, We Live For God’s Glory Alone.
And Scripture alone is the final authority for what we believe.

  • We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12-13).

  • We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit —co-eternal in being, co-eternal in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same

attributes and perfections (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

  • We believe in God the Father, an infinite and personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love (John 3:16; Ephesians 4:6; Revelation 1:8). We believe that He concerns Himselmercifully in the affairs of people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and eternal death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 1:3).

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful mankind (John 1:1–2, 1:14; Luke 1:35). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection (Romans 3:24; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3–5). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where, as our High Priest, He is our representative, intercessor, and advocate (Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1–2).

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling, and sealing them unto the day of redemption (John 16:8–11; 2 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Corinthians 12:12–14; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18). The Holy Spirit empowers the people of God for ministry and mission.

  • We believe God created all things through his Word and declared it all to be good (Genesis 1:31). He currently sustains heaven and earth, which He created, by the power of His word (Hebrews 1:3). Creation is a reflection and overflow of the beauty and love of the Trinity. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female (Genesis 1:26-27). We believe that God’s Word establishes marriage as between a man and woman in order to reflect the relationship of Christ and His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity regardless of their salvific standing (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31).

  • We believe that human beings are created in the image and likeness of God, but that through Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. People are totally depraved and of themselves completely unable to remedy their lost condition (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1–3, 2:12).

  • We believe that salvation is a gift of God brought to people by grace and received by personal faith in Jesus Christ and repentance of sins (Ephesians 1:7, 2:8–10).

  • We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 6:37–40, 10:27–30; Romans 8:1, 8:38-39; 1 Corinthians 1:4–8; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 5:11-13).

  • We believe God, by His Word and Spirit, creates the Church, calling sinful humanity into the fellowship of Christ’s body (Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; Hebrews 10:24-25). We believe there are two ordinances of the Church: the Lord’s supper and the believer’s baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowing of spiritual gifts. We also believe that particular spiritual gifts are neither essential, nor prove the presence of the Holy Spirit or an indication of deep spiritual experience (1 Corinthians 12:7, 12:11, 12:13; Ephesians 4:7–8). We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to minister according to the gift or gifts and grace of God that is given to them (Romans 12:1–8; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 Peter 4:10–11).

  • We believe Jesus is coming again to judge the living and the dead (1 Peter 4:5; Romans 14:9; 2 Timothy 4:1; John 5:28-29).
